  • When we explore our world,
  • we discover ourselves.

Where children flourish and futures shine

From the very beginning, our Early Childhood Centers are a place where children feel known and capable, where play has purpose, and where Jewish tradition is woven into the everyday in ways that are natural, joyful, and real. From Baby & Me to preschool and beyond, our programs support growth, exploration, and a sense of belonging, creating the foundations children carry forward for life.

Baby & Me

For families with children from birth to age two, Baby & Me offers a gentle introduction to our community through play, music, and movement. These classes support early development and bonding, while parents and caregivers build relationships alongside their children in a warm, Jewish environment.

Curiosity

Where curiosity fuels discovery

Our programs inspire a lifelong love of learning, encouraging students to ask questions, explore boldly, and embrace wonder.

Wonder in Every Mark

Curiosity comes to life through hands-on artistic exploration.

In the ECC Atelier, children explored the expressive possibilities of charcoal through hands-on discovery. Working with charcoal sticks, pencils, and blending tools, they experimented with line, shade, contrast, and texture—observing how materials changed across different types of paper.

As they blended black and white to create new tones, transferred charcoal from paper to fingertips, and experimented with erasing and reworking their designs, children asked questions and shared discoveries. Through open-ended exploration, curiosity guided their learning and deepened their understanding of how materials transform through investigation and creativity.

Learning Through Wonder, Play, and Exploration

Through questions and play, students discovered the story of Passover (Pesach).

At the ECCs, Passover (Pesach) preparation began not with answers, but with questions. Educators listened closely to children’s ideas, connections, and wonderings, allowing the story of the holiday to unfold through exploration rather than instruction.

Hands-on experiences invited deep engagement: making matzah from scratch, molding pyramids from clay and blocks, and using storytelling and dramatic play to explore themes of freedom and belonging. Through open-ended materials and shared investigation, thinking was followed wherever it led. These moments reinforced a powerful idea—that learning grows through wondering, creating, and exploring together—laying the foundation for a lifelong love of inquiry.

Connection

Where connection lasts a lifetime

We nurture relationships that create a sense of belonging, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for your family.

Buddies Building Bridges

TK/DK children connect with their 3/4 Village buddies, building friendships across Wilshire Schools East.

At Glazer ECC, connection begins early and reaches across grades. TK and DK friends were delighted to meet their 3/4 Village buddies as part of a meaningful inter-age buddy program designed to build genuine relationships and a strong sense of community across the campus.

During their visit, older buddies shared stories, presented handmade cards, and asked thoughtful questions to get to know their youngest peers. Through these shared moments of listening, laughing, and learning together, children from different age groups created space for curiosity and friendship to grow. These early bonds reinforce a powerful idea: connection isn’t just about being together—it’s about showing up for one another with openness, respect, and joy.

Celebrating Together

Family picnic celebrates community, connection, and Sukkot traditions at Glazer ECC.

Wilshire Schools East, home of Glazer ECC, celebrated Sukkot with an annual Family Picnic that brought families together in a warm, joyful community gathering. Under the sukkah, children and their families shook the lulav, explored hands-on activities, and shared in the sights, sounds, and traditions of the holiday.

The evening also created opportunities for connection across ages, as ECC children spent time with their Brawerman East buddies—sharing experiences, learning side by side, and strengthening relationships beyond the classroom. Through shared celebration and simple moments of joy, families experienced what it means to belong to a caring, connected community.

Jewish Identity

Where Jewish identity is cultivated

Through meaningful traditions and shared experiences, students celebrate their Jewish heritage with pride and joy.

Welcoming Shabbat's Light

Creating Shabbat boxes to celebrate tradition, connection, and family.

Each year, as children decorate their Shabbat boxes alongside parents and caregivers, they create something both beautiful and meaningful: a special place to hold the ritual items that welcome Shabbat into their homes.

Shabbat arrives each week as a gentle pause—a time for light, rest, and connection. Through shared creativity and conversation, families engage deeply with Jewish tradition, weaving intention and love into an object that will hold candles, blessings, and memories.

In these moments, Jewish values are not simply discussed; they are experienced. Through ritual, togetherness, and the sacred rhythm of the week, even our youngest children begin to understand what it means to welcome Shabbat and carry its light into their lives.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

Honoring milestones in Jewish learning and community.

Kadima, our graduation ceremony, marks a meaningful milestone across our Early Childhood Centers. As families gather to celebrate growth and transition, children walk down the aisle holding the Torahs they have lovingly decorated—symbols of the Jewish learning and tradition they are beginning to carry forward.

Over the course of their time at the ECCs, Torah stories, Hebrew songs, holidays, and rituals become part of daily life. By the time they participate in Kadima, these experiences are no longer new; they feel familiar and deeply personal. Surrounded by family and community, children carry their Torahs with pride, reflecting the joy and belonging that have shaped their early Jewish journey.

Kadima means “forward.” In this sacred passage, children move onward rooted in Jewish tradition, connected to community, and confident in who they are becoming.

Leadership

Where leadership begins with confidence

By cultivating independence, purpose, and responsibility, we empower students to lead with integrity and intentionality.

Compassion in Bloom

Even the youngest students led with heart through a Tu BiShvat lemonade stand.

When Glazer ECC’s TK and DK children learned about Tu BiShvat and the tradition of planting trees in Israel, they wanted to take action. Their solution? A lemonade stand!

These 4- and 5-year-olds brainstormed, made signs, and set up shop in front of the school all to raise money to donate trees to Israel. With confidence, collaboration, and plenty of enthusiasm, they sold lemonade to classmates, teachers, and families.

The result? An inspiring $72 raised — enough to plant multiple trees and grow their connection to Israel.

This project was not just about lemonade. It was about leadership, pride, and showing that even our youngest learners can make a real difference.

Come grow with us at Wilshire Boulevard Temple, where even the youngest voices are empowered to lead with heart.

Tasting the New Year

ECC students took the lead in counting votes and sharing the results.

In celebration of Rosh Hashanah, families gathered for a festive apple tasting that brought the sweetness of the New Year to life. As children sampled Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, and Envy apples, they reflected on the tradition of dipping apples in honey and the hope for a sweet year ahead. Each taste became part of a larger conversation about renewal, gratitude, and new beginnings.

The DK class helped tally the votes, turning the experience into a shared act of participation and responsibility. Through joyful ritual and hands-on engagement, children experienced core Jewish values of simcha (joy), kehilla (community), and hope for growth in the year to come. What began as a simple tasting became a meaningful expression of Jewish life—reminding families that even the youngest members of our community can actively participate in tradition, reflection, and belonging.

Compassion

Where compassionate hearts are nutured

We prioritize empathy and kindness, encouraging students to care deeply, act thoughtfully, and make a meaningful impact on the world.

Caring for the World Around Us

ECC children cultivate empathy and care while tending plants and connecting with the natural world.

At the Early Childhood Centers, compassion is nurtured not only in how children care for one another, but in how they relate to the living world around them. Through gardening partnerships and thoughtfully prepared nature-based experiences, children engage directly with soil, water, plants, and the rhythms of growth.

In the garden, children water seedlings, plant flowers, and tend to growing vegetables alongside older community members. With gentle hands and careful attention, they learn that living things depend on consistent care. These shared moments of planting and nurturing foster patience, responsibility, and a sense of connection that extends beyond the classroom.

Whether observing a leaf closely, noticing how water nourishes roots, or tending to a flower over time, children begin to understand that compassion includes stewardship. By caring for the natural world with intention and respect, they practice empathy in its broadest sense, recognizing that they are part of a larger ecosystem and that their actions matter.

Growing in Empathy and Responsibility

Compassion comes to life through hands-on action.

At Wilshire ECCs, compassion is part of the daily rhythm of school life. Just steps from their classrooms, children visit the onsite Karsh Social Service Centers to participate in meaningful acts of service throughout the year.

On different days, small groups help sort fresh produce or assemble snack bags for individuals and families in need. With guidance and care, children learn how their efforts contribute to something larger than themselves. What may seem like simple tasks (placing fruit into bins or preparing bags with intention) become early lessons in empathy and responsibility.

Through these regular visits, compassion is not taught as an abstract idea. It is practiced. Children come to understand that helping others is woven into the fabric of their community, and that even small hands can play a meaningful role in caring for the world around them.

Each moment is a milestone

From their earliest steps, we provide the steady footing children need to navigate an ever-evolving world with confidence and purpose. Rooted in Jewish life and values, play-based learning, and a warm community, our programs help children grow socially, emotionally, and developmentally, one supported day at a time.
