Carol Bovill

Director, WBTECC

Carol Bovill has been the Director of Wilshire Boulevard Temple's Early Childhood Centers since 2002. A leading professional in the field of Jewish Early Childhood Education since 1980, Carol holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education as well as a Bachelor’s Degree (also in Early Childhood Education), both from California State University, Northridge. She is a past president of the Early Childhood Directors’ Network of the Builders of Jewish Education (BJE).

Prior to her Wilshire Boulevard Temple tenure, as Assistant Executive Director at the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Los Angeles, Carol developed curriculum, hired administrators, and oversaw the early childhood programs at seven local JCCs. Before becoming the founding director of the Conejo Valley JCC for Early Childhood and Family Education, Carol was the assistant director at Valley Beth Shalom preschool. Early in her career, as a nursery school teacher, she also facilitated parenting classes.

Carol and her husband of 30+ years, Dan, live in Century City and enjoy power walking, traveling, reading, and entertaining friends and family. Their son, Jeremy, lives in Irvine, and their daughter, Melissa, and son-in-law, Mark, live in Los Angeles with their sons, Aiden, Zachary and Blake.

Fredda Loewenstein

Associate Director, WBTECC

Fredda Band Loewenstein has been a member of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Early Childhood Centers staff since its inception, serving as both educator and administrator. She has worn many hats during her tenure, starting as master teacher and moving to assistant director before assuming her current role of associate director. Fredda has a degree in marketing, a certificate in Early Childhood Education, and a Director’s Permit. She has served on the Board of the Association for Early Jewish Education and continues to be active with the Los Angeles BJE (Builders of Jewish Education). Fredda’s favorite part of every week is when she facilitates Grandparent and Me Shabbat class!  

Floryn Rosenberg

Site Director, Erika J. Glazer Early Childhood Center

Floryn Rosenberg is the Site Director at the Erika J. Glazer Early Childhood Center. She was previously the Assistant Director at the Mann Family Early Childhood Center in 2015. She has been a part of the teaching staff at Wilshire Boulevard Temple for the past five years, and has been in the Early Childhood field for seven years. Floryn holds a Bachelor's Degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master's Degree in Media and Communications Psychology from Touro University. During her free time, Floryn enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Daniel, and her two sons, Jacob and Benjamin. 

 

Lindsey Flam

Assistant Director, Mann Family Early Childhood Center

Lindsey Flam has been the Assistant Director at the Mann Family Early Childhood Center since 2016. She began her work in early childhood as a teacher here in 2009 and served as a Curriculum Coordinator at both Glazer and Mann Family Centers. Lindsey has a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Northridge and a Bachelors in Communication from the University of Southern California. Lindsey spends her free time with her husband Justin and son Spencer. Together, they enjoy traveling and experiencing various types of cuisine.

Felisa Felsenthal

Registrar

Felisa has been a part of the Early Childhood Centers since November of 2005. She is a certified paralegal and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UCLA. Felisa has three children, Michael, Deena and Amira and one son-in-law Jonathan. Felisa is active in the Jewish community and enjoys spending time with her family.

FACULTY

All of our highly qualified teachers at the Early Childhood Center have bachelor’s degrees, with many of them earning master’s degrees in Early Childhood Development and Education. Our creative and committed staff is trained in cutting-edge curricula and teaching techniques, and participate in continuing education programs including workshops conducted by the Director, and monthly "Lunch & Learn" sessions with our rabbis. Teachers and Administrative Staff also receive annual basic first aid, CPR training, and certification.
