ECC Connection Friday, July 17, 2020 Shalom from Fredda! Twenty four years ago this month I walked onto the Irmas Campus for the first time having just been hired to teach nursery school in what would become The Mann Family Early Childhood Center. There was a shuttered psychiatric hospital that had been red tagged after the Northridge earthquake and three trailers sitting on a large open field. Those structures were the start of a big dream - a dream that Wilshire Boulevard Temple had of establishing a westside presence to complement their two other campuses in Wilshire Center and Malibu. Wilshire Boulevard Temple's growth at the Irmas Campus is well documented. My own personal journey during those ensuing years included births, deaths, graduations, weddings, divorces, illnesses, but no less importantly, cultivating deep personal connections. During my tenure at Wilshire Boulevard Temple I have had the privilege to work with an amazing professional team of educators, supported by diligent hard working Temple clergy and administrators, parent volunteers, facilities workers and security officers. I have met and formed bonds with hundreds of Temple member families and in a small way helped guide them on their journey as young parents.
