Jewish Life in Little Moments

At our ECCs, Judaism is woven into the rhythm of each day.Children light candles for Shabbat, learn Hebrew songs, and celebrate holidays with hands-on activities that spark wonder. Through cherished traditions, values, and stories, even our youngest learners feel the warmth of belonging to a community rooted in Jewish life.

Values in Action

Tzedakah, Community, Belonging

Jewish values come alive in ways children can see and feel. Collecting coins for tzedakah teaches generosity; planting and caring for our gardens connects to tikkun olam (repairing the world); and learning to treat friends kindly reflects kavod (respect). Each value is taught through simple, everyday actions, giving children a foundation of empathy, kindness, and responsibility that grows with them.

Celebrating Together

Holidays are celebrated with laughter, music, and togetherness.

At Sukkot, children decorate and share snacks in the sukkah. For Passover, they host a playful model seder. On Shabbat, families of the 'star child' are invited to join in singing and say the blessings over the candles, grape juice, and challah. These celebrations build memories, foster friendships, and connect families to a larger story. Parents, grandparents, and special friends are often invited to take part, making Jewish life a shared family experience.

A Warm and Inclusive Community

Our ECCs embrace the diversity of today’s Jewish families. Interfaith households are welcome, and every family finds its place in the celebrations and values we share. What matters most is that children and parents feel the comfort, love, and belonging that Jewish life at the ECC inspires.

The Role of Hebrew Language

Hebrew words, blessings, and songs are introduced naturally throughout the day. Whether it’s saying motzi before snack, learning holiday songs, or greeting friends with shalom, children become familiar with the language in ways that feel engaging and accessible. These experiences give them not only a vocabulary of words, but also a sense of connection to Jewish tradition.
