Leadership From the Start

Even the youngest learners can take on responsibility in ways that feel meaningful and fun. At our ECCs, leadership begins with small steps: passing out snacks, caring for the classroom, or helping a friend solve a problem. These moments, simple as they seem, are the building blocks of agency, empathy, and a sense of belonging to something bigger.

Responsibility that Grows with Them

Children love being trusted with classroom jobs. Whether it’s watering plants, setting tables for lunch, or serving as a line leader, these activities help them feel capable and important. They also learn that being part of a community means contributing to it.

Leadership Through Kindness and Action

Leadership here is about how we treat each other.

Older children model respect and kindness for younger peers, and teachers guide them to notice when a classmate needs a helping hand. Jewish values like kavod (respect) and tzedakah (giving) turn everyday actions into leadership lessons rooted in care and responsibility.

Role Models in Pre-K, TK & DK

As the oldest students in the ECC, Pre-K, TK, and DK children naturally become role models. Teachers encourage them to take on leadership roles, from guiding group discussions and classroom learning to leading blessings during Shabbat. These opportunities prepare them for kindergarten and beyond, giving them the confidence to speak up, collaborate, and lead with compassion.
